May 25, 2020

Today I set up my painting gear, I plan to do a simple painting today. mostly it's just to get something on the canvas.

So, I did a small painting, I will probably scrape it down but it is a beginning, just something to get me back into the groove.

Hi, Seth Godin says everyone should blog even if no one reads it and that you have to write badly before you can write well, so here goes. My goal is not to be a professional writer but a competent painter, my problem is that I'm a procrastinator. I need to discover how to deal with resistance, how do I remove resistance to drawing and painting.

Mate, 12X16, Oil on hardboard

Mate, pronounced Mah- teh with stress on the first syllable, is practically the national drink in Argentina,  it is prepared from steeping dried leaves of yerba mate (llex paraguariensis) in hot water.
The gourd is partly filled with the yerba mate, the water heated to no more than 75 degrees C, then enough water is poured into the gourd for one or two sips from the bombilla(straw),  the process is then repeated and passed from person to person until the yerba has no more flavour.
Claudia and I have this every day with toast or cookies mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.......

DSFDF-Yearend portrait swap, 12"x12" Oil on birch panel

Having walked for several hours, her hair being tossed by the wind, the chill in the air colouring her face, the woman smiled, a slight but confident smile, knowing she has finally found the subject of her next painting.

'this painting was done from a photograph provided on the blog Different Strokes From Different Folks, where artists are encouraged to paint or draw their own interpretations.'
